On January 7, 1943, the world lost one of its greatest inventors and visionaries. Nikola Tesla, the brilliant engineer whose ideas helped shape modern electricity and wireless technology, died at the age of 86 in New York City. He passed away alone in his room on the 33rd floor of the New Yorker Hotel, where he spent his final years.
